"How's the Market?"

 "How's the Market?" Traditionally, when someone new finds out that you are in real estate, their first line is "How's the market?"  For some reason nowadays, many people seem to think they know how the market is and want to tell you all about it.  Which is kind of funny because we're seeing things in the current market that are unprecedented.  Covid created widespread changes to the way companies do business.  Working from home became the norm for much of the workforce almost overnight.   People now need more room in their homes.  Room for an office.  If you're a couple, perhaps 2 offices.  Add in some kids, and you may need to consider space for home schooling.  Our social/recreational lives have also been turned upside down. Many consider the need for a home theater, game room, family room, etc no longer optional.  A back yard with room for a fire pit, barbeque, corn hole court, outdoor dining area.  You can't have this...

Sometimes Things Happen for a Reason.

Back when Covid first hit, and there was a lot of uncertainty in the marketplace, my employer at the time made the commitment to keep all full time employees on board for as long as possible.  To their credit, they did just that.  Not knowing how long or how widespread the restrictions on business were going to be, everyone knew that the vagueness of the statement was warranted.  But the fact was, business was suffering.  Some changes had to be made.   In the end (the end for me, anyway), the company offered a package to employees that met certain criteria.  As I had been doing the same job for quite some time, and quite honestly was looking for a change (and since I met the established criteria), I took advantage of the opportunity and decided to try something new. So, now what?  There were 2 things on my short-list of new careers: Police Officer and Real Estate Agent.  Since I'm on the high side of the half-century mark, becoming an officer...
